Growing up in Southern New England has been a blessing for Jarid Root.  Since living in Fairfield, CT for most of his life, Jarid could tell you about almost every type of weather their is on the planet.  His love for weather started when he was entering elementary school when he saw two lightning strikes in his backyard in almost the same spot.  Since then, Jarid is always glued to the window when a thunderstorm is occuring(even though being near windows is not recommended during thunderstorms).   Jarid would always remember when the weather was on the radio and TV as well.  His early attempts at forecasting started by using the radars and satellite images during the TV weathercasts to track storms on his own.  He wasn’t too accurate then.  Jarid earned his B.S. in Meteorology with the Operational and Theorectical options from Western Connecticut State University in 2006.  During his college days, Jarid gained valuable forecast experience through an internship at WTNH and a position at the Western Connecticut State University Weather Center where he forecasted and provided weather data for various newspapers, businesses, and legal cases.  He ranked in the top 10 percent overall in the National Collegiate Forecasting Contest during his senior year.  Jarid is a member of the American Meteorological Society.
